Paul, we treat these anomalies one car at a time. Does the pad look original or is it a restamp. Is the rest of the car correct? or is it "made". It is hard to put an umbrella over all instances.

It is a touchy subject for me. To restore a car in my opinion, you restore it as close to the way it left the factory as possible or there abouts. I happen to like original parts regardless of condition. I use reproduction parts only as a last resort. Some people like pretty door panels made by Al's. I like trashed original if I can't find something better. Good with the bad. The only standard I have is my own. I impose no standard on anyone else regarding their car(S). If they enjoy it and get something out of it, I say Cool! and I smile because I realize I am not the only crazy person out their chasing a dream and a passion. The only person I am trying to impress is my self. The only judge that counts regarding my car is me .... Some seem to live and die by what some judge says about their car. I went to a car show one time and looked at this beautiful 58. I thought it was perfect and the owner kept picking it apart in front of me. He was really stressed about it. I will try to stop before I piss someone off. Take care everyone, Terry
